Decolonised 21st Century Education

“The whole world is going through renewed focus on identity as well as an education revolution that responds to the 21st century as well as the 4th Industrial Revolution. The African continent is rediscovering itself and its opportunities, with education as a key focus in this renewal. South Africa, and the rest of the continent, continues to see   a growth in the demand for self-actualisation as Africans – hence the decolonisation debate is necessary and an opportunity to drive an African education revolution.”

In 2016, Dr Judy Dlamini, and I co-founded Sifiso Learning Group. It has been our dream to meaningfully contribute to the African education landscape. Sifiso Learning Group is the realisation of this dream! Our group offers a holistic, dynamic, technology enabled and student-centric approach to education. Through our Future Nation Schools, our goal is to equip our students with problem-solving, leadership and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge they will need to innovate, lead and fulfil their potential in the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Through Sifiso Education Properties, we have developed and are continuing to build school properties that are designed to stimulate learning. Under Sifiso EdTech we are developing educational technologies and we are developing indigenous academic and leisure content through Sifiso Publishers.

Following a successful inaugural conference centred on 21st Century Teaching and Learning in 2016, Future Nation Schools is hosting its second conference themed “Decolonised 21st Century Education”. The conference is an all-day event on the 29th of September at our Future Nation Schools Lyndhurst campus in Johannesburg, South Africa. We have invited a wealth of reputable speakers who are thought leaders and innovators in the education space. This conference will be a dynamic meeting of partners and stakeholders in the education space, that will allow us to challenge ourselves to shape and drive this African education revolution.
